Teaching as a profession is both a vision and a mission. As such, one’s success in the teaching profession lies on how efficiently and effectively one delivers the goods to his clientele---the pupils.
It is generally accepted that ultimate learning takes place when the greatest number of senses are stimulated.
It must be for this reason that effective teachers always utilize multi-sensory instructional services.
Sensory I.M’s facilitates learning by lending support to the teachers’ pedagogical efforts.
One advice worth considering to make Instructional Materials appropriate in making learning possible is from Weaver and Cenci’s statement (1960:146)
“If a picture is worth a thousand words, use the right picture at the right time and save a thousand words.”
A teachers’ teaching skill can be gauged somewhat by the quantity and quality of teaching aids he/she uses and by the methodology with which he/she utilizes.
They can make use of throwaway materials like empty bottles, ice cream cups, empty shoe boxes, shells, cans and the likes.
Instructional Materials can be used as motivational devices as sources of information and or a supplementary activity.
