SECURITY Bank continues to strengthen its card security with an enhanced safety feature. The ATM card Lock/Unlock feature is similar to an “On/Off” switch that conveniently allows customers to turn off (and on) their card functionality in just a few clicks. It provides additional protection against unauthorized transactions including withdrawals and other card-related fraud. This technology is being adapted by many reputable banks internationally.
While a card is locked, it can neither be used to make ATM withdrawals nor do point-of-sale (POS) and online transactions. Another functionality of the Lock/Unlock feature is the ability to reset the ATM pin count whenever the customer is locked out of his account due to failed pin input attempts. Every time one uses this lock/unlock feature, the customer will receive an SMS message and an email with a unique transaction reference number
“Customers can lock their cards for as long as they prefer and just unlock it when needed. They can also utilize the Lock feature whenever they temporarily misplace their card or when they are traveling to prevent unauthorized charges”, said Security Bank FVP & Fraud Management Division Head Jopet Jocson. “Aside from the benefit of increased security, the lock feature can help clients with budgeting by allowing them to take full control of their purchases”.
The new Lock/Unlock feature can be accessed through Security Bank Online (SBOL), the Bank’s online platform that is secured by Transport Layer Security (TLS). Simply log in to SBOL, click Accounts, and choose Manage ATM Card. Non-SBOL users are encouraged to enroll their accounts to access this feature. The Lock/Unlock feature will soon be available in the Security Bank Mobile App. The app is downloadable for free through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
