(Updated) Teachers to launch 'Bantay Balik Eskwela 2018'

THE Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) will soon launch Bantay Balik Eskwela to show that despite a new school year, same old problems exist: K to 12 issues, shortages in classrooms, teachers, books and other facilities.
"We  will be ready to receive reports directly from teachers and even students about the true state of education in our country," said Mr. Raymond Basilio, secretary general of Alliance of Concerned Teachers, in a press statement released over the weekend.

Basilio said Bantay Balik Eskwela will engage schools, teachers and students in order to expose the real situation in the grounds that Department of Education(DepEd) is hiding.

“Taun-taon na lang, pilit pinagtatakpan ng DepEd ang mga kakulangan para lamang magmukhang maayos at kaaya-aya ang lugar ng 'de-kalidad na edukasyon," said Joselyn Martinez, union president of the ACT in National Capital Region (ACT-NCR).

Martinez added: "Pinalalala ng mga kakulangan na ito ang pagpapatuloy ng kasalukyang kurikulum na K to 12. Tutuntong na nga ang mga batang kung saan talaga nagsimula ang K to 12, Grade 7 na sila ngayon, ngunit hanggang ngayon di pa rin nagbabago ang kalagayan.”

The group will announce its official hotline numbers and social media accounts and hashtags to be used by netizens.
