BOC-10 collection in Q2 up by 47.2%

CAGAYAN de Oro City--Collections by the Bureau of Customs in Northern Mindanao rose 47.2 percent to P3.6 billion in the second quarter of 2017.

In a quarterly media forum, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in the region reported that the collection gain was attributable to the increased importation of petroleum products and to the positive performance of Iligan Port.

Collections from the Iligan Port, which accounted 12 percent share of total regional customs receipts, increased by 386 percent to P89.9 million.

The growth, according to NEDA-X, was due to capital equipment importation by GN Power for the construction of its power plant in Kauswagan town, Lanao Norte.

The Mindanao Container Terminal- Sub Port remained the biggest contributor to customs collections with 62 percent share or P2.2 billion followed by the Cagayan de Oro Base Port with P918 million or 25 percent of the total customs collections. (APB/PIA-10)
