DESPITE government's warning to local residents to strictly follow the basic health protocols, cases of Covid-19 in the country continue to spike.
The country recorded 4,663 deaths and there are about 269,407 people are reportedly infected with the virus.
Unless the people themselves will learn the virtue of respect and care for the others, cooperation and obedience to authorities, the problem regarding the spread of the virus could have been resolve by now.
If you noticed that kids living in the slum are free to roam around the entire community night and day, never mind the danger of contracting the dead virus anywhere anytime.
Take the case of our neighbor city--the Iligan City--in a report written by Apipa Bagumbaran of the Philippine Information Agency in Region 10 re3ported:
In a virtual press briefing, Police Major Cheryll Balderama reported that they were able to apprehend 1,608 people for violating COVID-19 related city ordinances.
Of this number, 173 were curfew violators, 12 liquor ban violators, 29 were unauthorized persons outside residence, 10 unauthorized back ride, and 26 violators of Executive Order 98 particularly on paragraphs J (ambulant vendor), K (suspension of public transport), and Q (health risks/vulnerable individuals).
464 violators for 'no face masks', 574 'no quarantine pass', and six (6) 'no face shield', as well as 223 for violations on color-coding and 91 on social distancing,
Balderama said the apprehensions show that the ICPO continue to do their work, not just on law enforcement, but also in the implementation of MECQ.
Last week, ICPO officer-in-charge PCol. Rolando B. Cuya Jr. cited they have intensified their visibility to ensure that all safety protocols under the MECQ are observed.
